GJSD moving to full remote learning next week due to COVID-19 spread in Cambria County
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Greater Johnstown School District will move to full remote learning next week after state officials recommended the same for all Cambria County schools due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases, according to a release from Superintendent Amy Arcurio.
Cambria County has entered the second week of being classified as a county with “substantial transmission” of positive coronavirus cases.
Arcurio says the guidance comes from the Departments of Health and Education.

State troopers to honor Landon Weaver, others who lost their lives in the line of duty
HERSHEY - The Pennsylvania State Police will honor fallen trooper Landon Weaver during a ceremony Tuesday at the State Police Academy. Hundreds of troopers will gather and will be joined by members of the Weaver family to honor his life and the 96 other troopers who gave their life since 1905. During the ceremony, troopers will unveil a new memorial wall that will share the stories of those 97 troopers. Weaver was shot and killed while responding to a call December 30 in Huntingdon County.

Lewistown man charged after crashing into second-story of house, claiming he saw demons
Mifflin County, PA (WJAC) — Charges have been filed against a 20-year-old Lewistown man after he allegedly crashed into the second story of a Mifflin County home.
According to a police criminal complaint, Evan Thomas Miller, Henrietta Street, crashed his grandmother’s Toyota Corolla into the second story of a house along Alfarata Road in Decatur Township Sunday.
According to the complaint, Miller was driving at a high rate of speed when the vehicle went airborne and crashed into the home, directly above a room where three people were seated.
Owner of Conemaugh Health System, LifePoint Health, received $1.5B in COVID relief
LifePoint Health received $1.5 billion in federal relief money to offset the cost of the pandemic, according to business magazine Bloomberg.
Conemaugh Health System is owned by LifePoint.
According to Bloomberg, the for-profit system is owned by Apollo Global Management which is led by billionaire Leon Black.
The report says taxpayer money covered the cost of treating COVID-19 patients.
LifePoint and Apollo say they're entitled to the money because it lost revenue from a lack of elective procedures.
West End Ambulance only station in county with specialty ambulance to carry obese patients
JOHNSTOWN - One ambulance center in Cambria County has a specialty piece of equipment no other station has, called Bariatric Transport. It's used to carry a patient who is overweight or obese. "It gives us the ability to move an obese person in a safe and dignified manner," said Ira Hart, director of West End Ambulance. The bariatric stretcher's purpose is to help transport patients in and out of their home to a hospital.
