GREENSBURG, Pa (AP) — More than 128,000 Roman Catholics in southwestern Pennsylvania are getting a new leader. Pope Francis on Friday appointed the Rev. Monsignor Larry Kulick as the sixth bishop of the Greensburg Diocese. The diocese says the 54-year-old has served as administrator since his predecessor, Bishop Edward Malesic, became the bishop of Cleveland in September. In a statement, Kulick says he's honored to serve in a diocese where he was born, raised, educated and ordained.
Teen finds child porn glued to playground slide
PUYALLUP, Wash. (KOMO) - A teenager says someone glued child pornography to the inside of a playground's slide in Puyallup, Washington, and police are trying to find out who would do such a thing.
A 16-year-old made the disturbing discovery at Bradley Lake Park Friday afternoon. Police said it was a collage of child porn on a piece of paper glued to the inside of the slide.
“I got petrified after seeing it because knowing that I have a 4-year-old niece and we were here playing with her,” said Brandon, who didn’t want to share his last name.
Westmont Hilltop on two-hour delay Thursday morning

Westmont Hilltop School district will be on a two-hour delay on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023. The school district says the delay will allow teachers to prepare for the school day.

'The Squad' takes victory lap over Biden's Israel crackdown: 'Protesting is working'
WASHINGTON (TND) — Members of the ultra-progressive congressional group “The Squad” on Wednesday cheered the Biden administration’s decision to halt weapons shipments to Israel.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed Wednesday the U.S. recently decided to withhold crucial weapons from Israel. He asserted the move has no bearing on the country's “ironclad” support of the Jewish state.
“We’re going to continue to do what’s necessary to ensure that Israel has the means to defend itself,” the Pentagon chief said.
Allegheny D.A. seeks death penalty in McKeesport officers killing
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Prosecutors say they plan to seek the death penalty if they win a first-degree murder conviction against a man charged in last month’s shooting death of one police officer and the wounding of another in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
Johnathan Jermia Morris, 31, of McKeesport is charged in Allegheny County with criminal homicide, attempted homicide and assaulting a law enforcement officer, as well as firearms crimes in the Feb. 6 shootings about 12 miles (20 kilometers) south of Pittsburgh.

Johnstown Redevelopment Authority continues demolition of blighted properties
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — The Johnstown Redevelopment Authority celebrated the demolition of another blighted property Thursday.
The residential building, located at 1127 Ridge Avenue, s one of 19 properties being turned into greenspaces thanks to state funding secured by Senator Wayne Langerholc.
Sen. Langerholc says it's important to get rid of the buildings, not only for safety, but to make space available for parks and playgrounds.
Executive director Melissa Komar says state and federal money has helped reduce blight a lot faster.
Ohio postal worker in USPS van caught passing Ford Mustang at 105 mph during race

Children and Youth Services workers charged in connection with child's death in Adams Co.
ADAMS COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Three Adams County Children and Youth Services (CYS) workers have been charged after allegedly failing to properly handle the case of a 15-month-old girl, which lead to her death.
The three employees including caseworker, Steve Murphy; his supervisor, Clarissa Kiessling; and Sherri Depasqua, a CYS assistant administrator, were each charged with two felony counts of endangering the welfare of children.
